The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for the Monastery in Ystad, Ystad Art Museum, Ystad Library, Youth House, Culture School, Marietorp Nature School, Ystad Arena Swimming and Halls, Nybrostrand Beach, and sports facilities, as well as close contact with the associations. About 100 employees work here to create good conditions for a stimulating and active leisure time and a rewarding, enriching cultural life for the residents of Ystad.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for someone who loves water, is driven to work with people, and wants to provide them with a good reception and a great experience.
The position as a lifeguard is part-time at 80%. Working hours are between 06:00-20:30 on weekdays, and you will work according to a schedule that includes evening and weekend shifts.
As a lifeguard, you will work together with your colleagues, consisting of 12 employees, hourly workers, and the pool manager, to provide our visitors with a safe and pleasant experience. You will work proactively in water safety efforts and keep the facilities in good condition.
You will plan with your colleagues the daily rotation around monitoring positions, maintaining routines around cleaning, reception, as well as café and various activities.

A large part of our operation is our swimming instruction where we work with students in elementary school, primarily preschool and grade 2. We also offer swimming instruction for adults and crawl courses, as well as baby swimming. It is important for us that you, as an applicant, have a desire and interest in leading activities such as water aerobics.
QUALIFICATIONS
For the position, the following education is required:
- Pool Manager
- Swimming Teacher
- Pool Lifeguard
- Water Safety Attendant
- Baby Swimming Instructor
- Water Aerobics Instructor
We want you to:
- have a high school education
- understand, speak, and write good Swedish and English; other language skills are an advantage
- be service-minded
- be able to complete swimming and lifeguard tests according to Guldbojen, which is part of the recruitment process
- be able to present a valid extract from the criminal record, for other work with children in activities other than school and childcare
You should have previous work experience in a service-related job where good reception is included; it is an advantage if you have previously worked in a swimming environment.
Experience in the service profession and working with children is also an advantage.
We would like you to have experience from sports and community life.
As a person, it is important to us that you are service-oriented in your work approach, calm, attentive, and accommodating when taking care of our guests. You also have a desire and interest in helping others and are not afraid to take initiative and start activities when needed. Furthermore, we believe you are outgoing and good at both creating and maintaining contacts with people you meet in work contexts.
